Ten persons have been killed in Katsina -Ala and Ukum local government areas of Benue State.
In Katsina- Ala, five persons were beaten to death on Wednesday night while the other five victims were killed on Thursday night at Ayati Village in Ukum LGA by unknown gunmen.
A resident of the area said , “ Around 8 pm on Thursday , some armed men rode on motorcycles into Ayati , positioned themselves at a junction and started shooting sporadically at anyone in sight.
Sadly , a woman , who was going for a wake keep, was hit by a bullet and she died instantly.
“ Several other persons sustained various degrees of injury while the deceased persons have been deposited at the morgue of the general hospital in the area . ”
Public Relations Officer of the Benue State Police Command , Moses Yamu , who confirmed the killing in the two communities , said no arrest had been made but that investigation was ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.
