Activists shut down London airport, halt deportation of Nigerians, Ghanaians (photos)

It was drama at the Stansted airport in London as activists in prevented the mass deportation of Nigerians and Ghanaians who failed to secure asylum in the United Kingdom, according to reports by the British media.

The activists, working under the name Stop Charter Flights – End Deportations, blocked the runway of the Stansted airport carrying banners and chanting songs
condemning deportations.

A video recording showed some of them were under the wing of a plane, while some others chained themselves to the runway.

As a result of the protests, several flights scheduled to land at the airport were diverted.

Members of Lesbians and Gays Support the Migrants and Plane Stupid also participated in the campaign.

A member of Plane Stupid, which is a group of environmental protesters seekingvan end to airport expansion, Audre Lourde, explained to a website why it took part in the protest.

She was quoted as saying, “There’s no such thing as a single issue campaign, because we do not live single issue lives.

“We do not see ourselves as
‘environmentalists’, nor do we see the fight against airport expansion or the fightbagainst climate change as isolated from any other issue.

“Airport expansion is a form of violence and a form of oppression, one that a minority of people will benefit from the profits, whilst countless people will suffer from loss of community and health, both
locally and globally.”

Portugal renames airport in Ronaldo's honour

When the island of Madeira on Wednesday renamed its airport in honor of its hometown hero Cristiano Ronaldo, all eyes were expected to be on the four-time world player of the year who is adored not only for his soccer skills but also his model looks.

But grabbing attention instead was a bronze bust of the player with a toothy grin and bulging eyes that instantly created a laugh on social media because of its debatable
likeness.

"I defy you not to feel better after viewing this picture of Cristiano Ronaldo alongside his portrait bust," wrote one Twitter user, Tom Sutcliffe (@tds153).

"That hideous Ronaldo statue is going to be a meme in 5,4,3...," posted @Agave310.

Another Twitter user deemed the statue "the most gloriously awful bust" of Ronaldo.

The 32-year-old Real Madrid player's girlfriend, Georgina
Rodriguez, and his mother, Maria, both attended the renaming ceremony of Portugal's Aeroporto da Madeira, now known as Cristiano Ronaldo Airport.

The newly revealed statue holds the distinction of being the second bust of the soccer star and occasional model that has been the subject of online ridicule.

Another statue, also in Ronaldo's hometown, was picked apart for what some saw as glaring obscurities and differences in likeness between the player and his bronzed counter-part.

"For a very handsome man, Ronaldo has had some appalling luck with statue-makers," quipped Twitter user Tom Williams (@tomwfootball), posting images of the two statues side by side.

On Tuesday, Portugal played their first match on the island in 16 years, the hosts losing 3-2 to Sweden despite an early Ronaldo goal.

Gobe!!!Lesbian asylum seeker claims ex-husband will kill her if Britain deports her to Nigeria

Nigerian woman held at Britain’s immigration detention center has pleaded with the authorities not to send her back to her home country, where her ex-husband is allegedly waiting to kill her.

The unnamed mother-of-four, who came to Britain seeking asylum after allegedly being persecuted in Nigeria for being a lesbian, shared details of her ordeal  with Detained Voices ahead of her scheduled deportation next week.

"I claimed asylum which was refused because of my sexuality. I am a lesbian which is not ok in Nigeria,” the woman said.
“Last week my friend called from Nigeria, she is looking after my four children in Nigeria. My ex-husband called her, he is trying to take my children away from her. She has been forced to leave their home with my children.
“My ex-husband said he knows I am being deported next week. He is waiting for me. He is planning to kill me.”
The woman, who has been in detention since September, claimed she was forced into marrying the man and had to hide her sexuality for years.

She was detained after living in London for six years. Her local MP is said to have been in contact with the Home Office, but to no avail.

Successful asylum seekers are granted a five-year refugee status by the UK Border Agency. The application is reviewed after that time and can be refused if the Home Office decides that circumstances in the country of origin are no longer threatening to the person seeking asylum.
“I have been living a miserable life since I was born, because I have to hide my sexuality. I cannot be free. I thought in UK I would be able to be lesbian and live free. But now they are trying to deport me to a country where I will not be safe because of my sexuality,” the woman added.
A Home Office spokesman who spoke to RT said:
“We do not routinely comment on individual cases. Every claim for asylum in the UK is carefully considered on its individual merit"

Read the IG piece actress Georgina Onuoha wrote about Friends who lack loyalty.
"We have to recognise that there cannot be relationships unless there is commitment, unless there is loyalty, unless there is love, patience, persistence. Too many fake human beings. Your friendship is useless and worthless to me if it doesn't embody loyalty. Too many scum bags out today parading them selves as friends have no sense of loyalty.
It's all about what they can get from you or to know what keeps you going. Guide and protect your happiness.. Lots of wolves in sheep clothing..Friendenemies.. Thank you lord for wisdom and thank you for the very few I can confidently call friends they tell you to truth without fear or favor. Always be 20 steps ahead of them Question every motive, ponder on every word they say to you, and pray God to grant you the spirit of discernment. Good morning Lovers ❤️️".
