Chelsea 0 - 1 Manchester City: Kevin De Bruyne Catapults Man City To Top After An Excellent Performance

English Premier League champions, Chelsea hosted this season's favorite at Stamford bridge today and City shows their class to claim 1 - 0 win.

Kevin de Bruyne scored an excellent winner as Manchester City beat Chelsea to go back to the top of the Premier League.

Without injured striker Sergio Aguero, who broke a rib in a car crash on Thursday - were the better side against the champions. To make matters worse for Chelsea, top scorer Alvaro Morata limped off with an injury in the first half.

The visitors who have only dropped two points in seven games - could have led when Fernandinho's header forced a good save Thibaut Courtois. The only goal came when De Bruyne - a former Chelsea player - played a one-two with Gabriel Jesus before smashing in a fantastic shot from 25 yards out.

Jesus almost scored a second for City when his volley from Raheem Sterling's cross was headed off the line by Antonio Rudiger. City - who are top on goal difference - had briefly been overtaken by Manchester United, who beat Crystal Palace 4-0 earlier on Saturday.

Women's Rugby Team Strips Off For Naked Charity Calendar (Photos)

A scrummy women's rugby team have stripped down to just their club socks and boots for charity in a series of saucy snaps which will be used for a calendar.
The ladies were caught on camera posing in just their club socks and boots, with jump rugby paraphernalia hiding their modesty. The pictures released for this year’s calendar are taken at the secluded grounds of the Hertfordshire club and capture the girls training.
One shot shows two teammates practicing their tackling naked. Another shows the girls high-fiving under the posts. Another shows two girls on the grass and two others standing before them with practice bags protecting their modesty.
The 2018 calendar by Hitchin Ladies Rugby Club will hit the shelves in November after their inaugural effort last year attracted praise from around the world. As a matter of fact, their recent nude photos have already attracted attention internationally after rapper 50 Cent shared their steamy snaps to his Facebook fans.
Organiser and inside centre Claire Crompton, 28, said: "We were never expecting the success we got last year but it’ll be nice if it happens again. We want to build on our success and we had a recruitment boost due to it as well.
Even if people look at it and don’t want to play rugby it gets the brand out there. Someone else might see it too if it's hanging up and see if they want to get involved with the sport. Our club is a lot of fun and we like to play good rugby - hopefully people looking at the calendar will see that we like to have fun."
The calendars are on sale for £10. This year the ladies will be raising money for the club and money for GB Wheelchair Rugby, after their funding was slashed.
The event worker from Stevenage added: "We were looking to fund a charity as well this year and we heard on the radio that Team GB wheelchair rugby lost it’s funding and I thought it was wrong. Rugby is rugby to us, it’s important to get the message out there and raise cash. I hope people get a calendar as it is for a really good cause and if they liked last years they’ll love this years."

Officer Shot Dead Was Mother, Wife, 5-Year Veteran

An officer in Polk County, Georgia, was shot dead after responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle , officials said, in what authorities are calling a "senseless killing", according to  ABC News.

The slain officer, Det. Kristen Hearne, was a five-year veteran, officials said. She leaves behind a husband and a 3-year-old son.

A second officer, David Goodrich, a rookie, was shot in his bulletproof vest and survived, officials said.

Officials said the officers responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle and then located a Ford Escape stolen from Tennessee on the side of the road.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Director Vernon Keenan said the suspects, Seth Spangler and Samantha Roof, walked out of the woods and up to the officers. A conversation ensued, after which Spangler allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot both officers, Keenan said.

The suspects ran from the scene sparking a manhunt, Keenan said.

Roof was quickly apprehended, after which Spangler was captured, Keenan said.

Keenan said Spangler is facing charges of felony murder and felony aggravated assault. Roof will be charged with felony offenses, Keenan said.

Ten Things Women In Saudi Arabia Must Avoid

The announcement that Saudi Arabia will finally allow women to drive has been hailed a watershed moment for gender equality, but the kingdom still has many laws in place that restrict the rights of women, activists say.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the only country in the world that forbids women from getting behind the wheel, announced that women will be allowed to obtain drivers' licenses for the first time in June 2018.

Although women’s rights have been incrementally extended in recent years – for instance, they were allowed to vote and stand as candidates in municipal elections for the first time in 2015 – their public behaviour is still severely restricted. Here are ten things women in Saudi Arabia are unable to do:

Open a bank account

Women need the permission of a male guardian to open their own bank account, Benchemsi said, and they can’t open bank accounts for their children without written consent from the child’s father, according to the Human Rights Watch report.

Get a job

There are few careers in Saudi Arabia that women are allowed to pursue without male consent, according to the Human Rights Watch report, and some companies don't even want to hire women.

Make major decisions without male permission

With the driving ban victory still fresh, Saudi women’s rights activists are eyeing up the next hurdle – dismantling the kingdom’s guardianship system, which Human Rights Watch has called “the most significant impediment to realising women’s rights in the country“.

All women in the kingdom are considered to have a male “wali” – an official guardian, typically a father, brother, uncle or husband.

Although guardianship is not enshrined in written law, government officials, courts, businesses and individual Saudis generally act in accordance with it, meaning that, in practice, women need their guardian’s consent for any major activity, including travelling, obtaining a passport, getting married or divorced and signing contracts.

In May 2017, activists won a small but significant victory when King Salman issued an order specifying that women did not need permission from their male guardian for some activities, including entering university, taking a job and undergoing surgery.

Campaigner Maha Akeel said the decision “opens the door for discussion on the guardian system”, Metro reports.

Women’s rights groups in the country are now lobbying for the end of guardianship in Saudi society, often using the social media hashtag “#IAmMyOwnGuardian”.

Wear clothes or make-up that ”show off their beauty“

The dress code for women is governed by a strict interpretation of Islamic law and is enforced to varying degrees across the country. The majority of women wear an abaya – a long cloak – and a head scarf. The face does not necessarily need to be covered, ”much to the chagrin of some hardliners“, says The Economist. But this does not stop the religious police from harassing women for exposing what they consider to be too much flesh or wearing too much make-up.

Earlier this year, a prominent cleric called for even more modesty, urging the nation’s “daughters” to avoid “any abaya that has any decorations… No embellishment, no slits, no openings”.

Two weeks later, a video circulated on social media showing an anonymous Saudi woman walking around a deserted fort north of Riyadh wearing a miniskirt, in seeming defiance of such strict regulations on women’s clothing.

The six-second clip sparked a heated debate in the country, with conservatives demanding her arrest pitted against reformers applauding her bravery. The woman was summoned for questioning by police, but later released without charge.

Divorce

A woman also needs a male guardian's permission to divorce. And until the divorce is finalized, a woman's husband remains her legal guardian throughout the process, according to the Human Rights Watch report.
Moreover, men may petition the courts to forcibly divorce a female relative from her husband if they deem the marriage "unfit," the report found.

Have custody of children

Women cannot retain custody of their children in a divorce after the kids reach the age of 7 for boys and 9 for girls, according to the Human Rights Watch report.

Interact with men

Women are required to limit the amount of time spent with men to whom they are not related. The majority of public buildings, including offices, banks and universities, have separate entrances for the different sexes, the Daily Telegraph reports. Public transportation, parks, beaches and amusement parks are also segregated in most parts of the country. Unlawful mixing will lead to criminal charges being brought against both parties, but women typically face harsher punishment.

Go for a swim

Women are not allowed to use public swimming pools available to men and can swim only in private ones or female-only gyms and spas. Reuters editor Arlene Getz describes her experience of trying to use the gym and pool at an upmarket Riyadh hotel: ”As a woman, I wasn’t even allowed to look at them (‘there are men in swimsuits there,’ a hotel staffer told me with horror) – let alone use them.“

Compete freely in sports

Last year, Saudi Arabia proposed hosting an Olympic Games without women. ”Our society can be very conservative,“ said Prince Fahad bin Jalawi al-Saud, a consultant to the Saudi Olympic Committee. ”It has a hard time accepting that women can compete in sports.“

When Saudi Arabia sent female athletes to the Olympics for the first time, at London 2012, hardline clerics denounced the two competitors as ”prostitutes“. The women also had to be accompanied by a male guardian and cover their hair.

However, in September 2017, Saudi Arabia’s national stadium welcomed its first ever female spectators. Women were assigned their own section in the normally male-only venue to watch celebrations marking the anniversary of the founding of Saudi Arabia.

Try on clothes when shopping

”The mere thought of a disrobed woman behind a dressing-room door is apparently too much for men to handle,“ says Vanity Fair writer Maureen Dowd in A Girl’s Guide to Saudi Arabia.

Other more unusual restrictions on women’s lives include entering a cemetery and reading an uncensored fashion magazine.

However, adds Dowd, everything in Saudi Arabia ”operates on a sliding scale, depending on who you are, whom you know, whom you ask, whom you’re with, and where you are“.

But things are slowly beginning to modernise. ”Saudi Arabia is the world’s most gender-segregated nation, but amid changes now under way, multiple generations of women are debating how to be truly modern and truly Saudi,“ says National Geographic.

A transformation is indeed under way, confirms royal adviser Hanan Al-Ahmadi, ”but we need to be able to create this change gradually and maintain our identity“.

Russian Opposition Lader, Alexei Navalny Has Been Arrested

The principal figure in a galvanized protest movement against the country’s leadership and main Russian opposition leader, Alexei Navalny, was detained today ahead of a rally.

Alexei Navalny said he was detained in the lobby of his apartment building in Moscow.  The rally was supposed to take place in Russia’s fifth-largest city, Nizhny Novgorod, about three hours away by high-speed train.

State media reports authorities as saying Navalny was detained for calling on supporters to attend unauthorised rallies. But Navalny insists that the rally was authorised.

“This is, of course, a new level. Now they are detaining me for an attempt to take part in a sanctioned meeting,” Navalny said on Twitter.

Navalny, who has challenged Russia’s long-time leader Vladimir Putin for the presidency in next year’s election, was similarly detained near his home on the way to a major rally in Moscow in June. He served a month in jail.

Navalny, who came in second in Moscow’s 2013 mayoral race, will likely not be allowed on the ballot for next year’s presidential election because of an embezzlement conviction that he has condemned as trumped up to stem his political ambitions.

Manchester City Sergio Aguero Seriously Injured After A Car Crash In Amsterdam

Manchester City and Argentine star Sergio Aguero, reportedly, has been seriously injured in a car accident in The Netherlands.

The striker seems to have fractured his rib in the car crash despite wearing a seat belt. He was travelling towards the airport in Amsterdam after attending a concert on Thursday (September 28). He was seated inside the taxi when the accident happened.

The Dutch police says two people were injured and taken to hospital, but would not confirm their names.

Aguero was reportedly with Colombian singer Maluma at a concert before it happened.

The City star's former club, Independiente, tweeted a photo of Aguero with the words: 'Strength and prompt recovery. Everyone @ Independiente is with you in this difficult moment.'

Sergio Aguero has made a strong start to the current season, netting seven goals in all competitions, including a hat-trick at Watford earlier this month.

This disturbing news has come at a bad time for Pep Guardiola's side as they prepare to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this Saturday, when the current Premier League leaders take on the reigning champions.

Man City go into the match three points ahead of the London side. Since moving to the Etihad Stadium six years ago, Aguero has been part of two Premier League winning teams, famously scoring the goal that clinched the title in the closing minutes of the 2011/12 season.

Cameroon Deports 100,000 Nigerian Refugees

Cameroon has deported 100,000 Nigerian refugees in the hope of stemming the spread of terrorist group Boko Haram, Human Rights Watch (HWR) said on Wednesday.

According to Human Rights Watch (HRW), Cameroon has forcibly returned 100,000 Nigerian refugees over breach of international agreements.

The rights group accused soldiers of deporting refugees escaping Islamist violence, as well as attacking and sexually exploiting them. Cameroon is "punishing" refugees for Boko Haram attacks, HRW said.

HRW said in a new report says, 'since early 2015, the Cameroonian authorities have summarily deported at least 100,000 Nigerians living in remote border areas back to war, displacement and destitution in Nigeria's Borno state. In carrying out these deportations, Cameroonian soldiers have frequently used extreme physical violence'.

Earlier this year, the UN refugee agency (UNHCR) criticised Cameroon for forcibly returning hundreds of refugees to north-east Nigeria. It said the returns had "continued unabated", despite the signing of an agreement ensuring that any returns would be voluntary.

The Cameroonian authorities have previously claimed that Boko Haram militants have been entering the country disguised as refugees. The UNHCR says forced return constitutes a serious violation of the 1951 Refugee Convention and the 1969 OAU Convention, both of which Cameroon has ratified.

It has previously called on Cameroon to honour its obligations under the conventions and continue keeping its borders open to allow access to territory and asylum procedures for people fleeing the Islamist insurgency.

Michelle Obama Slams Women Who Voted For Donald Trump

American lawyer and writer who was First Lady of the United States from 2009 to 2017 Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama  on Wednesday criticized women who voted for President Trump, saying they voted against their own interests.

“Any woman who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against their own voice,” Obama told the audience during a talk at a marketing conference in Boston.
She went on to suggest female voters for Trump were just going with the pack. She said:
“It doesn’t say much about Hillary, and everybody’s trying to worry about what it means for Hillary and no, no, no what does this mean for us as women?” she asked.
“That we look at those two candidates, as women, and many of us said, ‘He’s better for me. His voice is more true to me.’ To me that just says, you don’t like your voice. You just like the thing you’re told to like.”
According to exit polls, 41 percent of women voted for Trump in November.
Then she talked about how she wants US President Trump to succeed. She said:
“We want him to be successful. He was elected”. “When you’ve been in that position, you have a different perspective.”

Nigerians To Tap Into $50bn Opportunities In Media Industry - Says John Momoh

The Chairman, Channels Media Group, Mr John Momoh, has urged Nigerians to fully tap into about 50 billion dollars worth of opportunities in the global broadcast and media industry.

John-Momoh Momoh made this assertion on Wednesday in a keynote address at the 2nd Fate Annual Alumni Conference in Lagos.

Theme of the conference was: “Unlocking the Growth Potential of MSMEs through Partnerships and Innovation.”

“As we know, Nollywood is rising with more talents coming on board; moreso, we need more channels that are dedicated to carving a niche for themselves in different areas,’’ Momoh said.

The director-general said that the sector has huge opportunities to generate employment and revenues for the nation’s economy, if the potential could be properly harnessed. He said that digitisation would soon open window for more investments in the sector and for channels of programming that would be dedicated to different niches of the country.

Momoh urged the entrepreneurs to focus on strategic partnerships, build trust, leverage on social media and innovations to scale up economic growth. Also, Mrs Adenike Ogunlesi, the Founder, “Ruff n Tumble’’, said that for businesses to expand beyond the country, there was need to build systems, structures and invest in human development.

Ogunlesi urged the entrepreneurs to uphold quality and standards in their quest to solve societal challenges. In his remarks, Mr Tope Folayan, the Co-Founder, Mall for Africa (an e-commerce platform), urged the Federal Government to upscale capacity building for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) operators to enable them to compete globally.

“We partnered with about 50 local MSMEs to leverage on our platform to sell their products on ebay to the global market. “We intend to spread the opportunity to more local MSMEs provided they meet international standards in their products quality, specification and design.

“This is where government plays a major role in providing avenues for training and positioning these operators to leverage global opportunities,” he said. In his remarks, Mr Fola Adeola, Founder, Fate Foundation, urged entrepreneurs to be diligent and resilient in the pursuit of their vision and growth of the nation’s economy. (NAN)
