After 3 Years Crisis, Assemblies Of God Church Nigeria, Reunited With The Church Of God

We’re no more divided, we’re now under one Assemblies of God Nigeria – Chidi Okoroafor

The three years leadership crisis that rocked the
Assemblies of God Nigeria has
finally come and gone following the verdict of the Supreme Court

The General Superintendent of the church, Rev. Chidi Okoroafor, said the church is no
longer divided, noting that the church is now one body

He, however, said all properties of the church that are in the hands of the ousted Rev. Paul Emeka will be recovered for the
church's use.

Following the final verdict given by the Supreme Court on Friday February 24, 2017 over the three year crisis that
rocked the Assemblies of God Church , the Executive Committee of the church,
on Monday, February 27, 2017, declared its readiness to recover all her properties
from being occupied by members loyal to Rev. Paul Emeka, the sacked General
Superintendent of the church.
The declaration was sequel to the Supreme Court judgment which affirmed the earlier suspension of Rev. Emeka as
the General Superintendent of the church by the committee, an issue which dragged on since 2014.

Addressing journalists at the
International Conference Centre of Assemblies of God Nigeria, Evangel Camp Okpoto, Enugu state, the General Superintendent, Rev. Chidi Okoroafor, said the church would not fold its hands
and watch illegal occupants mess up its structures.

Also present at the briefing were all the 19 members of the church's General Executive Committee.

Rev. Chidi Okoroafor during the media chat in Enugu Among them were the Assistant General Superintendent, Rev. Ejikeme Ejim, the General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Godwin
Akpan Amaowoh, the General Treasurer, Rev. Vincent Alaje, as well as all the zonal heads of the church across the country.

Okoroafor called on the pastors and the members who stood with the ousted Emeka while the matter was in court to return with genuine repentance and get reunited with the church of God.

His speech read in part: " Blessed be the God of the founding fathers of the
Assemblies of God Nigeria. He is a prayer answering God; He is a great God. He has
demonstrated that He is the owner of the church. He has shown himself great and
wonderful.

“In the first place, Assemblies of God Nigeria by biblical standards and our constitution should not have gone to court
to settle an internal matter.

25 INEC Officials That Was Severely Beaten Has Been Hospitalised

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Monday said over 25 of its personnel deployed for last
Saturday’s rerun in Etche, Rivers state were beaten and currently hospitalised.

Elder Aniedi Ikoiwak, state resident electoral commissioner, told the News
Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Port Harcourt that the victims were attacked and wounded by Rivers people.

According to him, one of the victims regained consciousness on Sunday.

”This is one area that Nigerians should ask questions: over 25 INEC staff members are in hospital today because the people of Rivers State decided to either kill or wound them.

”They were all beaten up because they went to those villages to conduct an election.

”Let the people of Rivers State tell us the offence of any of them.

”What did they do? They were bringing materials for the election; they decided to
descend on them, beat them up, collect their personal belongings and run away,”
he said.

Ikoiwak noted that the victims were on official duties and needed a peaceful environment to achieve success.

He called on Nigerians to condemn the alleged attack.

“It is very sad. None of them was beaten up in his home but where they went to conduct an election.

”Why shouldn’t Nigerians discuss that?
Why should people sent to conduct an election be beaten up and their belongings taken away from them?” he asked.

NAN reports that about 700 staff members of the commission were mobilised for the supplementary legislative election in Etche.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) had withdrawn from assisting INEC in the
election due to security issues. (NAN)

President Buhari ‘is not the president’ of Nigeria – Ben-Bruce

The Senator representing Bayelsa East, Ben Murray-Bruce, has stated that a cabal has hijacked the government from President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Prof Yemi
Osinbajo.

According to him, Buhari and Osinbajo are not the leaders of Nigeria as people may see, noting that some persons were actually ruling the country
behind them.

Bruce said unless the cabal was flushed out, Nigeria would continue to retrogress while the
economy would equally sink.

Speaking with Vanguard, the Silverbird boss described Osinbajo as a good man, who
according to him was not responsible for the nation’s problem.

He said, “The answer is simply because the government is not being led by Buhari and is not
being led by Osinbajo. They have people leading the government from behind. The vice president that I know is a good man and is quite a
wonderful human being.

“Osinbajo is not the problem. There are people pushing this government for their own personal and selfish interests. Things are not working well
because the people have not applied the proper measures and policies to propel the country out of recession.”

On what to do to end the ongoing economic recession, Bruce said, “What they are doing cannot end the recession. A budget during
recession must be different from the one that should be operated when an economy is doing well.

“This government cannot run the same type of economic policies that the Jonathan
administration used because the times are not the same. This government needs the smartest people to run this economy. But the argument is
that this government inherited the economic problems from the previous one and is, therefore, a child of circumstance.

“No, that will not suffice anymore because if you recall, in 1999 when Obasanjo and Atiku took over the reins of power, they quietly recovered over $4 billion from those who had stolen money and put
it in the system, and nobody heard about it.

“I want you to know that the current recession is caused by a cabal working for their selfish interest and a gamut of poor economic policies and they are going to get worse because the brains that should run the economy are not there.

“That is why Osinbajo must take charge of this economy because I want this government to succeed so that we can have something to take
over in 2019. It is certain Nigerians will reject APC
in 2019 and PDP is surely going to take over. We will beat APC any day, and they must leave.”

Working under president Donald Trump was an insult - Muslim national security staffer quits only eight days after working with Trump

Just eight days after working with the news elected President Donald Trump, a Muslim-American national security staff resigned, saying that working under president Trump was an insult.

Rumana Ahmed began working at the White House during Obama’s administration
immediately after graduating from college.

Rumana, whose family moved to Maryland from Bangladesh, worked for only eight days after
Trump was elected before resigning.

In an editorial piece, Rumuna wrote that the President’s ban on travellers from seven Muslim countries was what prompted her to make the
decision, having come to the realization that she could no longer work for an administration that saw her and her people as a threat.

She revealed that after Trump resumed office she felt uncomfortable going to work and often got cold, uncomfortable stares from people in the White House who were wondering why she was
still there while some others totally ignored her.

This made it impossible for her to interact with anybody. She also revealed that Trump kept her and other staffers out of the policy-making process, causing them to be clueless and only find out about things happening within the White
House from the news.

A day before she left, Rumuna told of how she bade farewell to the few colleagues she had left
and notified Trump's senior NSC communications adviser, Michael Anton, of her plan but he did not ask why she was leaving. It is revealed that Anton is in support of authoritarianism and has written a book that attacks diversity as a 'weakness', and
Islam as 'incompatible with the modern West,' so it comes as no surprise that he did not ask her why she was leaving.
She described how she revealed to him that she
could no longer work with the current administration and how he showed a lack of concern.

"I told him I had to leave because it was an insult walking into this country's most historic building every day under an administration that is working against and
vilifying everything I stand for as an American and as a Muslim,' she wrote.

''I told him that the administration was
attacking the basic tenets of democracy. I told him that I hoped that they and those
in Congress were prepared to take responsibility for all the consequences that would attend their decisions."

In an interview with CBS, Rumuna further defended her decision to leave, saying;
"Walking into that building was becoming more and more difficult every single day
because everything that administration was doing stood against what I stood for
as both an American and as a Muslim".

German hostage beheaded in Philippines

A German man has been beheaded by Abu Sayyaf militants in the southern Philippines after a deadline to pay his ransom passed, the
Philippine government has said.

A video posted by the Philippines-based Islamist
extremist group Abu Sayyaf and distributed by SITE Intelligence Group identifies the man as Jurgen Kantner, who has been held captive since
November.

It was the second time Kantner, 70, had been abducted. He was held along with his partner,
Sabine Merz, by Somali pirates for nearly two months in 2008.

In a text message Philippines Secretary Jesus Dureza, the Presidential Peace Adviser, said
the government strongly condemned "the barbaric
beheading of yet another kidnap victim."

"Up to the last moment, many sectors, including the Armed Forces of the Philippines, exhausted all efforts to save his life. We all tried our best. But
to no avail," he said.

A German official said the government was still checking the video's authenticity.
The group had demanded 30 million Philippine pesos ($600,000) in exchange for Kantner's release, setting a deadline of February 26.
Abu Sayyaf announced in November last year that
they had kidnapped Kantner and his partner in the waters off Malaysia's Sabah state, according to Philippine officials.

Merz was shot and killed by the militants soon after, the Philippine News Agency reported.

In September, Abu Sayyaf freed a Norwegian man it had held captive for almost a year, according to CNN

BREAKING: Court sacks Senator Akpan Bassey, orders refund of salaries received

A Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has asked the Independent National
Electoral Commission (INEC), to immediately, withdraw the Certificate of Return given to the Senator representing Akwa-Ibom North East district, Albert Bassey Akpan.

In a judgment delivered on Monday, the court asked INEC to issue a fresh Certificate of Return to Hon. Bassey Etim, whom the court established, as
the authentic candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the December 2014 primary election.

The judge equally directed Senator Bassey Albert, to vacate his seat and ordered the President of the Senate, to swear in Bassey Etim, as the Senator for Uyo Senatorial district.

It could be recalled that, Hon. Etim, a former member of the House of Representatives, dragged Senator Akpan, the PDP and INEC before the
Federal High Court, Uyo, challenging the nomination of the Senator, even though it was
glaring that he convincingly won the party’s primaries.

Consequently, the court faulted the primary that produced Senator Akpan as flag bearer of the PDP and the subsequent election that made him
Senator.

The court also made a definite order in the pre-election matter, by directing Senator Akpan to
refund all salaries and entitlements collected so far as a Senator representing the constituency.

I may run for presidency – Tinubu

Former Governor of Lagos State, and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has said that he
cannot rule out the possibility of running for the office of the president.

Tinubu said this while fielding questions frombjournalists on Friday.
The former Lagos Governor noted that running for any office in Nigeria was an opportunity to serve his country.

He said, “You see there is nothing wrong withcsuch ambition.
“It depends on the timing and the environment and what political leadership dictates.
“I will not brush aside such an aspiration.

”It has been historical even that Buhari tried first, second, third, and fourth before he got it.

Resilience, determination, and clarity of purpose.
“Maybe as a senator, maybe as a president, you cannot rule it out. How can I rule such a thing
out, the opportunity to serve my country? But you only do that when there is a vacancy.”
Tinubu added that there was no rift whatsoever amongst APC leaders.

He said, “Everything has always been alright in APC camp. I credit the Nigerian creativity in
journalism, they create stories, and if you have to respond to every one of it, you will be in trouble.”

Donjazzy is a giver: Twitter user begs him for N95K tuition fee and he obliges

A Twitter user this morning took to the platform to plead with Don Jazzy for financial assistance, telling him that he was about to be expelled from
school for not paying his tuition fees. In usual Don Jazzy fashion, he replied the fan, asking how much he owed the school.

The user was quick to take advantage of the opportunity he saw coming and told the Don that the fee per session is N95K and he was owing for
two sessions, that sums the amount he's asking for up to N190K. Don Jazzy has asked him to send his account details.

Recall that in December of last year, the Mavin boss gave N250,000 to a woman who asked him for money on twitter. So if the previous record of Don Jazzy is anything to go
by, the young man will definitely be smiling to the
bank soon.

Meanwhile, trust Nigerians to be quick to take advantage of situations. A few Twitter users have decided to try their luck and have proceeded to tweet at the record producer with their individual needs, begging him for assistance. See some
below.
