President Muhammadu Buhari: Nigeria Is My Problem

“Nigeria is my problem,’’ President Muhammadu Buhari, currently on his first working visit to Kano, northern commercial city, has declared.

“I will continue to do my best. Nigeria is my target and I will remain focused to move the country forward,” Buhari said at a dinner to welcome him on Wednesday night.

Buhari said he would remain focused in order to restore the lost glory of the country.

The dinner was organised in his honour by Kano State Government.

The 75-year-old charismatic leader said he would continue to do his best to ensure that the country attain greater heights.

He said the administration would continue to accord priority to education so as to empower the youth, to enable them contribute their quota toward the development of the country.

“If you educate people, you empower them. So, we have to make sacrifice to prepare the youth for the future,” Buhari said.

He expressed happiness over the wonderful reception accorded him and his entourage by the people of the state.

“I am overwhelmed by the massive turnout of people who left what they were doing to welcome me. This should be a clear message to the opposition.

“The support has been consistent, so I don’t have words to express my appreciation to the people of Kano state.”

He congratulated Governor Abdullahi Ganduje for working very hard to improve the living standards of the people of the state through execution of projects that had direct bearing on them.

The President described Ganduje as a good politician who worked closely with everyone, particularly representatives of the state, at the state and National assemblies.

Ganduje had earlier said Kano State Government had been able to execute a number of projects, in addition to initiating various empowerment programmes for the women and youths.

He said as part of efforts to address unemployment, the state government awarded contract worth over N2bn for the construction of a skills acquisition training centre.

The centre would soon be completed and put to use, he said.

“We have a number of projects that are on-going and we hope you will visit the state in near future in order to inaugurate such projects,” Ganduje said.

Manchester United Blocks Manchester City Film Crew

Manchester United have refused Manchester City’s request to bring their own camera crew into the away dressing room at Old Trafford for Sunday’s blockbuster Premier League clash, reports said Thursday.

The move could add spice to a match that Jose Mourinho’s United dare not lose if they are to retain any realistic hope of reeling in Pep Guardiola’s flying side, eight points clear at the top of the table.

Amazon are following City for a behind-the-scenes documentary about the club’s 2017-18 campaign, which will be screened next year as part of a reported £10 million ($13 million, 11.4 million euros) deal.

Britain’s Times newspaper said City were understood to have made a formal request to United and the Premier League for the Amazon crew to be given access to the tunnel area and away dressing room at Old Trafford, but it had been denied due to insufficient space.

According to the report, United have granted permission for a pitch-side camera to film the warm-up.

The Times said United’s stance would be welcomed by the Premier League’s existing rights-holders, including Sky Sports and BT Sport, who have reportedly privately expressed irritation at the access City are granting to a commercial rival.

Amazon are muscling into sports broadcasting, recently winning the UK rights to show the US Open tennis and ATP Tour and sparking concerns among the established broadcasters that the Premier League may be in their sights.

The American tech giant has already produced two series of a documentary programme called “All Or Nothing”, which follows the fortunes of NFL teams the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams.

In October, Italian giants Juventus announced they will feature in a four-part documentary series produced by Netflix in 2018.

Full Text Of Trumps Speech Recognizing Jerusalem As Israel's Capital (Video, Photo)

Full text of the White House remarks given by US President Donald Trump on December 6, 2017, in which he recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

THE PRESIDENT: Thank you. When I came into office, I promised to look at the world’s challenges with open eyes and very fresh thinking. We cannot solve our problems by making the same failed assumptions and repeating the same failed strategies of the past. Old challenges demand new approaches.

My announcement today marks the beginning of a new approach to conflict between Israel and the Palestinians.

In 1995, Congress adopted the Jerusalem Embassy Act, urging the federal government to relocate the American embassy to Jerusalem and to recognize that that city — and so importantly — is Israel’s capital. This act passed Congress by an overwhelming bipartisan majority and was reaffirmed by a unanimous vote of the Senate only six months ago.

Yet, for over 20 years, every previous American president has exercised the law’s waiver, refusing to move the US embassy to Jerusalem or to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital city.

Presidents issued these waivers under the belief that delaying the recognition of Jerusalem would advance the cause of peace. Some say they lacked courage, but they made their best judgments based on facts as they understood them at the time. Nevertheless, the record is in. After more than two decades of waivers, we are no closer to a lasting peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians. It would be folly to assume that repeating the exact same formula would now produce a different or better result.

Therefore, I have determined that it is time to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

While previous presidents have made this a major campaign promise, they failed to deliver. Today, I am delivering.

I’ve judged this course of action to be in the best interests of the United States of America and the pursuit of peace between Israel and the Palestinians. This is a long-overdue step to advance the peace process and to work towards a lasting agreement.

Israel is a sovereign nation with the right like every other sovereign nation to determine its own capital. Acknowledging this as a fact is a necessary condition for achieving peace.

It was 70 years ago that the United States, under President Truman, recognized the State of Israel. Ever since then, Israel has made its capital in the city of Jerusalem — the capital the Jewish people established in ancient times. Today, Jerusalem is the seat of the modern Israeli government. It is the home of the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, as well as the Israeli Supreme Court. It is the location of the official residence of the Prime Minister and the President. It is the headquarters of many government ministries.

For decades, visiting American presidents, secretaries of state, and military leaders have met their Israeli counterparts in Jerusalem, as I did on my trip to Israel earlier this year.

Jerusalem is not just the heart of three great religions, but it is now also the heart of one of the most successful democracies in the world. Over the past seven decades, the Israeli people have built a country where Jews, Muslims, and Christians, and people of all faiths are free to live and worship according to their conscience and according to their beliefs.

Jerusalem is today, and must remain, a place where Jews pray at the Western Wall, where Christians walk the Stations of the Cross, and where Muslims worship at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

However, through all of these years, presidents representing the United States have declined to officially recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. In fact, we have declined to acknowledge any Israeli capital at all.

But today, we finally acknowledge the obvious: that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital. This is nothing more, or less, than a recognition of reality. It is also the right thing to do. It’s something that has to be done.

That is why, consistent with the Jerusalem Embassy Act, I am also directing the State Department to begin preparation to move the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. This will immediately begin the process of hiring architects, engineers, and planners, so that a new embassy, when completed, will be a magnificent tribute to peace.

In making these announcements, I also want to make one point very clear: This decision is not intended, in any way, to reflect a departure from our strong commitment to facilitate a lasting peace agreement. We want an agreement that is a great deal for the Israelis and a great deal for the Palestinians. We are not taking a position on any final status issues, including the specific boundaries of the Israeli sovereignty in Jerusalem, or the resolution of contested borders. Those questions are up to the parties involved.

The United States remains deeply committed to helping facilitate a peace agreement that is acceptable to both sides. I intend to do everything in my power to help forge such an agreement. Without question, Jerusalem is one of the most sensitive issues in those talks. The United States would support a two-state solution if agreed to by both sides.

In the meantime, I call on all parties to maintain the status quo at Jerusalem’s holy sites, including the Temple Mount, also known as Haram al-Sharif.

Above all, our greatest hope is for peace, the universal yearning in every human soul. With today’s action, I reaffirm my administration’s longstanding commitment to a future of peace and security for the region.

There will, of course, be disagreement and dissent regarding this announcement. But we are confident that ultimately, as we work through these disagreements, we will arrive at a peace and a place far greater in understanding and cooperation.

This sacred city should call forth the best in humanity, lifting our sights to what it is possible; not pulling us back and down to the old fights that have become so totally predictable. Peace is never beyond the grasp of those willing to reach.

So today, we call for calm, for moderation, and for the voices of tolerance to prevail over the purveyors of hate. Our children should inherit our love, not our conflicts.

I repeat the message I delivered at the historic and extraordinary summit in Saudi Arabia earlier this year: The Middle East is a region rich with culture, spirit, and history. Its people are brilliant, proud, and diverse, vibrant and strong. But the incredible future awaiting this region is held at bay by bloodshed, ignorance, and terror.

Vice President Pence will travel to the region in the coming days to reaffirm our commitment to work with partners throughout the Middle East to defeat radicalism that threatens the hopes and dreams of future generations.

It is time for the many who desire peace to expel the extremists from their midst. It is time for all civilized nations, and people, to respond to disagreement with reasoned debate –- not violence.

And it is time for young and moderate voices all across the Middle East to claim for themselves a bright and beautiful future.

So today, let us rededicate ourselves to a path of mutual understanding and respect. Let us rethink old assumptions and open our hearts and minds to possible and possibilities. And finally, I ask the leaders of the region — political and religious; Israeli and Palestinian; Jewish and Christian and Muslim — to join us in the noble quest for lasting peace.

Thank you. God bless you. God bless Israel. God bless the Palestinians. And God bless the United States. Thank you very much. Thank you.

(The proclamation is signed.)

7 Ways To Get Rid Of Vaginal Odor Fast

Unusual vaginal odor happens from time to time. Even when you’re taking good care of your body and your vagina, you may experience unfamiliar smells. What’s not normal, however, is persistent or strong odors.

Occasionally, you may need a little help getting rid of an odor. The following techniques may help you naturally eliminate unusual vaginal odors:

1. Practice good hygiene

Clean the outside of your vagina regularly with a washcloth and mild soap. Loofahs may cause small tears and expose the area to possible infection. Cleansing will wash away dead skin, sweat, and dirt. Don’t use perfumed soaps or body washes. The scents and chemicals may upset your vagina’s natural pH. Bar soaps may be more gentle than body wash.

2. Use only exterior deodorizing products

If you want to use any sprays or perfumes, only use them on the outside of your vagina. Don’t insert them. They can upset your natural chemistry and lead to bigger problems.

3. Change your underwear

If you normally wear satin, silk, or polyester panties, make the switch to 100 percent cotton. Cotton is breathable and does an excellent job wicking away sweat and fluids from your body. Excess moisture can upset your natural bacteria levels.

4. Consider a pH product

Over-the-counter (OTC) products may be helpful for restoring your vagina’s natural pH. If you try one and the odor remains or grows worse, make an appointment with your doctor. You may need to use a different product or look for a stronger prescription alternative.

5. Try essential oils

This treatment has very little medical research to support it, but anecdotal evidence suggests tea tree oil, a type of essential oil, helps eliminate vaginal odor. This essential oil has natural antimicrobial and antifungal properties, which may help reduce and eliminate bacteria. First, mix a few drops of tea tree oil with water. Then, apply a drop or two to the outside of your vagina. Repeat this for three to five days. If symptoms don’t improve or worsen, discontinue use.

6. Soak in vinegar

Frequent hot baths and hot showers can upset your natural pH, but one type of bath may be useful. Pour a cup or two of apple cider vinegar into a warm bath and soak for 20 minutes. Vinegar may naturally reduce bacteria.

7. Prescription treatments

Prescription treatments can help eliminate underlying causes that are contributing to the odor. If your home or OTC treatments aren’t successful, it may be time to seek treatment from your doctor.

How Smoking Causes Cancer

Smoking is by far the biggest preventable cause of cancer. Thanks to years of research, the links between smoking and cancer are now very clear. Smoking accounts for more than 1 in 4 UK cancer deaths, and nearly a fifth of all cancer cases.

The good news is that many of these deaths are preventable, by giving up smoking. Speak to your GP or pharmacist, or visit the NHS Smokefree (link is external) pages for free advice and support to give you the best possible chance of quitting.

Which cancers are caused by smoking?
Chemicals in cigarette smoke enter our blood stream and can then affect the entire body. This is why smoking causes so many diseases, including at least 14 types of cancer, heart disease and various lung diseases.

Smoking causes more than 4 in 5 cases of lung cancer. Lung cancer survival is one of the lowest of all cancers, and is the most common cause of cancer death in the UK.

Smoking also increases the risk of at least 13 other cancers including cancers of the mouth,  pharynx (upper throat), nose and sinuses, larynx (voice box), oesophagus (gullet or food pipe), liver, pancreas, stomach, kidney, bowel, ovary, bladder, cervix, and some types of leukaemia Smoking could increase the risk of breast cancer, but any increase in risk is likely to be small.

What influences the risk of cancer from smoking?
Smokers have a much higher risk of lung cancer than non-smokers, whatever type of cigarette they smoke. There’s no such thing as a safe way to use tobacco.

Filters and low-tar cigarettes make little difference – your lung cancer risk is not lower compared to smokers of average cigarettes. This may be because smokers tend to change the way they smoke in order to satisfy their nicotine craving, for example by taking bigger puffs or smoking more cigarettes.

The more cigarettes you smoke a day, the higher your risk of cancer. If you aren’t able to quit completely, cutting down the number of cigarettes you smoke a day can be a good first step. Even light or social smoking can harm your health so keep trying to stop entirely.

Scientists have found that the number of years you spend smoking affects your cancer risk even more strongly than the number of cigarettes you smoke a day. For example, smoking one pack a day for 40 years is even more dangerous than smoking two packs a day for 20 years.

The serious damaging effects of smoking cannot be cancelled out by leading an otherwise healthy lifestyle, like keeping fit and eating healthily.

How does smoking cause cancer?
The main way that smoking causes cancer is by damaging our DNA, including key genes that protect us against cancer. Many of the chemicals found in cigarettes have been shown to cause DNA damage, including benzene, polonium-210, benzo(a)pyrene and nitrosamines.

This is already bad news, but it’s made worse by other chemicals in cigarettes. For example chromium makes poisons like benzo(a)pyrene stick more strongly to DNA, increasing the chances of serious damage. And chemicals like arsenic and nickel interfere with pathways for repairing damaged DNA. This makes it even more likely that damaged cells will eventually turn cancerous.

Smokers are also less able to handle toxic chemicals than those with healthy lungs and blood. Chemicals in cigarette smoke make it harder for smokers to neutralise or remove toxins, and can make their immune systems less effective too.

How long does it take for smoking to cause cancer?
It usually takes many years, or decades, for the DNA damage from smoking to cause cancer. Our bodies are designed to deal with a bit of damage but it’s hard for the body to cope with the number of harmful chemicals in tobacco smoke.

Each cigarette can damage DNA in many lung cells, but it is the build up of damage in the same cell that can lead to cancer.

However research has shown that for every 15 cigarettes smoked there is a DNA change which could cause a cell to become cancerous. This is why it’s better to give up smoking sooner rather than later.

SARS Arrests 4 Men In Abuja With N6.4m Diverted Goods

A 32 year old  truck driver, Chukwudi Nwandiche,  from Enugu State and three others have been arrested at Gwagwalada area in Abuja with the N6.4m worth of apple juice they allegedly diverted which was entrusted in their care to deliver to a customer in Kano State.

The goods were entrusted in their care by the management of EuroGlobal Foods and Distillers Limited located in Sango-Ota, Ogun State. The suspects, according to a police source were arrested at a warehouse they offloaded the goods at Gwagwalada, Abuja while waiting for a buyer from Sokoto State to pay them the sum of N2m for the goods.

The arrest of the suspects was made possible by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP in charge of FSARS, Lagos, Mr Ibrahim Kaoje who drafted a team led by DSP Olaniyi Festus to track and arrest the suspects and recover the goods following a complaints by the management of EuroGlobal Foods Limited that the truck driver they engaged had disappeared with their N6.4m goods. Other suspects are Peter Iyase, 62, from Edo State; Yahaya Isah, 39, from Kogi State and Sanni Abdulmalik, 41, also from Kogi State.
SARS arrests 4 men In Abuja with N6.4m diverted goods

The police source alleged that trouble started for the suspects when the management of EuroGlobal Foods and Distillers Limted engaged one Nduka, now at large to help the company to look for a truck to convey about 3,000 cartons of apple juice valued at N6.4m to a customer in Kano State.

The source alleged that after the driver loaded the goods and headed to Kano State, Nduka allegedly called him on phone around Kogi State axis that he should drive the truck to Gwagwalada, Abuja and offload the goods into a warehouse owned by Isah for a buyer for N2m.

The goods was to be delivered within 24 hours.  Nemesis, however, caught up with the suspects when the management of EuroGlobal Foods reported to Kaoje that the truck driver they entrusted with N6.4m goods to deliver to a customer in Kano State had disappeared with the goods. Followiing the report, Kaoje directed a team led by DSP Olaniyi Festus to fish out the suspects and the goods.

The police team tracked the suspects to Gwagwalada and arrested them and recovered 2,500 cartons of the goods while Nduka managed to escaped.  The arrested suspects and recovered goods were moved to the station.

During investigation, the truck driver and others allegedly confessed to the crime and said that Nduka told them to divert the goods to enable him sell it for N2m and share the money instead of taking it to the owner in Kano.  A police source said that the suspects would be charge to court after conclusion of investigation.

Saudi Arabia Should Allow Immediate Aid To Yemen - Donald Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump called for Saudi Arabia on Wednesday to immediately allow humanitarian aid to reach the Yemeni people, suggesting Washington had run out patience with a Saudi-led blockade that has been condemned by relief organizations.

The Saudi-led military coalition fighting the Iran-aligned armed Houthi movement in Yemen’s civil war started a blockade of ports a month ago after Saudi Arabia intercepted a missile fired toward its capital Riyadh from Yemen.

Although the blockade later eased and showed signs of breaking on Wednesday, Yemen’s situation remained dire. About 8 million people are on the brink of famine with outbreaks of cholera and diphtheria.

“I have directed officials in my administration to call the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to request that they completely allow food, fuel, water and medicine to reach the Yemeni people who desperately need it,” Trump said in a statement, without elaborating.

“This must be done for humanitarian reasons immediately,” Trump said.

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) said the first food and fuel had arrived in Hodeidah and Saleef ports, but supplies were at a trickle compared to what was needed, since Yemen’s population of 27 million was almost entirely reliant on imports for food, fuel and medicine.

Oxfam International applauded Trump’s statement, calling it “long overdue but hugely important.” Democratic Senator Chris Murphy, who has called for restrictions on U.S. arms sales to Saudi Arabia, said he expected the Kingdom to heed Trump’s call.

Trump’s brief, one-paragraph statement is one of the clearest signs of U.S. concern over aspects of Saudi Arabia’s foreign policy. Saudi Arabia has also split with Trump over his decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

WARMER TIES

Publicly, Trump, his top aides and senior Saudi officials have hailed what they say is a major improvement in U.S.-Saudi ties compared with relations under former President Barack Obama, who upset the Saudis by sealing a nuclear deal with their arch-foe Iran.

Even as ties improve, however, U.S. diplomats and intelligence analysts privately express anxiety over some of the more hawkish actions by Saudi Arabia’s crown prince, especially toward Yemen and Lebanon, as Saudi Arabia seeks to contain Iranian influence.

In turn, Saudi Arabia has been unusually public about its concerns over U.S. policy on Jerusalem.

King Salman told Trump ahead of his Jerusalem announcement on Wednesday that any decision on the status of Jerusalem before a permanent peace settlement was reached would “harm peace talks and increase tensions in the area,” according to Saudi state-owned media.

A White House official said Trump’s statement on aid to Yemen did not represent retaliation for the Saudi position on Jerusalem.

“It has to do with the fact that there is a serious humanitarian issue in Yemen and the Saudis should and can do more,” the official said.

The fuel shortages caused by the blockade have meant that areas hardest hit by war, malnutrition and cholera lack functioning hospital generators, cooking fuel and water pumps. It also makes it harder to move food and medical aid around the country.

The Saudi-led military coalition stepped up air strikes on Yemen’s Houthis on Wednesday as the armed movement tightened its grip on Sanaa a day after the son of slain former president Ali Abdullah Saleh vowed revenge for his father’s death.

Saleh, who was killed in an attack on his convoy, plunged Yemen deeper into turmoil last week by switching allegiance after years helping the Houthis win control of much of northern Yemen, including the capital.

U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said on Tuesday that the killing of Saleh would likely worsen an already dire humanitarian situation in the country in the short term.

“This is where we’ve all got to roll up our sleeves and figure out what you’re going to do about medicine and food and clean water, cholera,” Mattis said.

Liverpool 7–0 Spartak Moscow: Coutinho Hits Hat-Trick Fires Reds To Last 16

Philippe Coutinho scored a hat-trick as Liverpool produced a stunning display to reach the last 16 of the Champions League, Spartak Moscow 7-0.

Liverpool headed into Wednesday night's Anfield clash knowing a draw would be enough to see them reach the knockout stages of the competition, and Jurgen Klopp's side made light work of their Russian visitors.

Coutinho gave Liverpool the lead from the penalty spot after Mohamed Salah was fouled after just four minutes, and the Brazilian had his second on the quarter-hour mark after a fine flowing move which involved Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

Firmino volleyed home the third after 18 minutes as Spartak sank without trace, while Mane added another volley two minutes after half-time.

Coutinho completed his hat-trick three minutes later after his shot took a wicked deflection off of Salvatore Bocchetti, making it four goals in four days for the former Barcelona target.

Mane added another with a neat finish from close range after 76 minutes, while Salah netted his second to complete the rout four minutes from time.

The only setback for Klopp will be the injury to Alberto Moreno, with the defender now a doubt for Sunday's Merseyside derby against Everton.

Speaking at the August occasion of the Annual Conference of Heritage Adoption Support and Advocacy Group (HASAAG) which had the wife of the Vice President, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo in attendance, Joke Silva-Jacobs gave a vivid account of her experience as an adopted child.

Born 56 years ago, not many knew that Olu Jacobs’s pretty wife,  Mrs. Joke Silva-Jacobs was adopted by the Silva Family.

According to kemiashefonlovehaven, Joke was living in a foster home of the Red Cross in Yaba, Lagos, and she recalled that her foster parent was Mrs. Desalu.

She said;

“Everybody would be calling me whenever my adopted mum (Dr. Silva)came with cakes and a lot of things during her visit. I went to YWCA Nursery, which was not too far from the Silva’s home in Yaba. I also have memories of moving in with them when they moved to Glover Road in Ikoyi.

I remember reading newspapers to my Dad in our sitting room and pronouncing Brig-General Aguyi Ironsi, the then Nigeria Head Of State, Agolo Iresi! My father could not stop laughing at my hilarious interpretation of the newspaper.

Also I remember making them proud, when performing at St. Saviour School. My parents would be standing and were congratulated by other parent too for my acting skills. My parents were so excited that this child was incredibly talented.

At Holy Child Lagos

I have memories of going to Holy Child College Lagos because my parents insisted on me going to Holy Child because that is where Julie Coker, Pearce Olusola and Ibidun Allison went and they believed with all my performing talent skills, that is the kind of school I should go to too.

Revelation

I remembered going out with my cousin and we met a big cousin She introduced me as ‘my cousin’s daughter and this is Dr Silva’s daughter.’ Then, the older cousin was like, ‘Dr. Silva ke? Se Doctor Silva bimo ni? (meaning does Dr. Silva have a child?) . Did Dr Silva ever has a child?’

I was so confused and when I got home I told my mum, ‘I met this lady that says you never had a child.’ My mum froze and she said, ‘don’t mind them, they are used to rubbish talk.’

But I got to know years later when I wanted to travel and was looking for my passport where my mum kept it. Since she was not around, I opened the box in her absence and I saw my adoption papers. I never discussed it with my mum because I felt it was something that would hurt her, that was why, it was kept secret from me.

Joke’s Mum, Dr Silva

Amazing Parents But I had incredible memories of my amazing parents for allowing me to do my A Level in England and going to one of the best schools in Bournemouth (a seaside resort on the southern coast of England) coming back after my A level with two of them having an argument on what I was going to do because I had failed my A level having done it for the third time then.

I had done it thrice because I changed from science to Arts— I didn’t do well at all.
My father said, ‘Joke, go back and do your A levels again and my Mom said, let this girl go and do the drama.’ They came into middle ground, and as you can see I am still in drama today.

Bringing Olu Jacobs home

Several years later, I brought home the one I wanted to marry and my mum asked my husband, if he knew I was adopted and he answered in affirmation that I had already told him.

Many years later, there was another memory of a very nasty member of our family. My mummy always very supportive of her relatives sat on our balcony and said my aunty would never be supportive of her because in the Yoruba language, ‘won o kuku bimo’ (she never supported her because she didn’t have a child of her own.)

When I heard about it I did what Pastor Rapu called the unchristian thing. (May God forgive me. I dealt with her, till today, she never believed what I did that day to her, but I dealt with her by being so cold towards her. She would never forget it.

Letting my kids know

I then realized that I needed to tell my children about my adoption. I don’t want anybody to tell them in a way it wouldn’t be supportive. I called my children and I told them the ABC of my adoption story.

They now told me that grandma had already told them. It was then I learn that somebody in my son’s school had told him about his mum being adopted. He told grandma and grandma told him everything. Little wonder, my mum and Soji, my son were very close. Till she died, my mum my son remained inseparable.

Olu and I Lost Our Daughter

I have memories of my firstborn Dayo who died at the age of 10 and a half years. She was in coma and my husband would not allowed them removed her from life support until my mom came. He needed my mom’s approval then because grandma was so close to Dayo, they were inseparable.

She gave the go-ahead for her to be removed by saying she was better up there than making her suffer on life support. My mum was the one that saw us through because my dad already had a stroke and couldn’t be of help at all then.

I remember when my mother saw the health of my husband, who was deteriorating over the death of our daughter. She gave my husband a cheque of a hefty sum to go and complete the house we were building then. But because of how arrogant our husbands could be on matters like that, he rejected the offer of his mother-in-law, and quickly gathered himself together to go and complete the house.

Celebrating Late Parents

My mother is the first person who taught me how to pray and she told me, whatever the problem, her own father, Bishop Phillips, taught her to kneel down and pray on any issues bothering her life.

Whenever I go to her, she said, “Joke have you being on your kneels, oya take it to Baba God in prayer. Take it to daddy in prayer.”

In the Silva’s Will

Even in their wills, I was well protected. My Daddy being a lawyer said in his will that all his children, both adopted and biological, should be treated equally. I was not stressed in anyway. We were all well taken care of till my mum died at the age of 89. At 56, I still miss her but I know she has definitely gone back to her father.

On her sick bed I always sang her favorite tunes, she would be imputing the melodious tunes and she died singing to her Lord. She had prepared her family before my coming into her life because I had an incredible big Silva family.
I have a very big family I am the first daughter, I carried the responsibility of a first daughter. Everybody in my family cannot take any decision until sister Joke has come. I can’t call my parents adopted parents. They are my parents”

"There Is No Way Atiku Can Defeat President Buhari In 2019" - Tony Momoh

Prince Tony Momoh, a former Minister of Information and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday said Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President cannot defeat President Muhammadu Buhari square up in the 2019 presidential election.

Speaking in a chat with INDEPENDENT, Momoh also said Atiku dumped the APC because he wanted to pursue his presidential ambition and not because of the reasons he stated in his letter announcing his exit from the party.

“A politician has his own agenda when he enters politics. Atiku joined a political organisation called PDM. But it became a political party as at the time APC also became a political party.

“But since that PDM could not meet his aspirations, he joined APC to pursue his dream of becoming President. Consistent with that, he asked for the ticket of APC which he did not get.

“Now 2019 is coming and since he wants to be President and he feels his chances in APC are not bright, he moved to another party – PDP.

But all I know is if Atiku and President Buhari square up together in 2019, there is no way anybody can stop Buhari,” he said.

A statement by the label reads

“The attention of G-Worldwide Entertainment Limited (‘the Company’) has been drawn to acts by Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe (alias ‘Kiss Daniel’), who recently has been making publications on different print media and social media platforms soliciting for bookings to perform songs from his album NEW ERA and EVOLUTION. Mr. Anidugbe executed a 7-year Recording and Artist Management Contract (’the Contract’) with the Company in 2013 and which Contract is still subsisting.
“Contrary to the express provisions of the Contract, Mr. Anidugbe has taken steps to appoint a new manager, solicited for bookings, and has continued to negotiate and enter performance agreements in respect of the songs from the album NEW ERA, and EVOLUTION which is set to be released soon containing singles such as YEBA, FOR YOU, SENORITA, SOFA and others, both produced under the Contract, including using the stage name ‘Kiss Daniel’ without the Company’s prior consent and permission.
Further thereto, the Company has approached the Federal High Court, Lagos in suit no. FHC/L/CS/1758/2017 between G-WORLDWIDE ENT. LIMITED Vs OLUWATOBILOBA DANIEL ANIDUGBE to affirm its rights over the intellectual property under the Contract i.e. copyrights over the songs in both albums, and rights over the stage name: ‘Kiss Daniel’.

By an application dated 20th November 2017, the Company sought interim orders of injunction, and other further orders as the Court may deem fit to make, against Mr. Anidugbe, retraining the Artiste’s further distribution, publication, or performance of these songs, or negotiating or entering any agreement thereof without the consent or permission of G-Worldwide Entertainment Ltd.
The general public and the whole world is hereby put on notice that on the 30th day of November 2017, the Federal High Court made an order that status quo ante bellum under the Contract, be maintained by the parties, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice filed in the suit.
The import of the Order being that the state under which the parties existed under the Contract should be preserved until the Court makes a determination of the motion on notice filed by the Company. All and any dealings in respect of the upload, distribution, and or performance of any of the songs, as well as the use or exploitation of the name ‘Kiss Daniel’ can therefore only be entered or made with the prior written consent and permission of the Company as provided under the Contract.
The general public and the whole world is further cautioned that as the matter is now before a Court of law (subjudice), and following the Order to maintain status quo, any unauthorized upload, distribution, exploitation, performance, sales, and use of the songs (from the NEW ERA and EVOLUTION albums), or stage name ‘Kiss Daniel’, in any show, event, downloading or streaming platform, will be in violation of the Order of the Federal High Court.
Anyone who does or continues to do so shall be liable as an accomplice for contempt of court, and the full weight of the law will be brought against that person as a contemnor. Any person or organization who negotiates, or enters into any agreement with Mr. Anidugbe to engage him on the basis of his presumed rights over the songs in both albums, or the use of the stage name ‘Kiss Daniel’, does so at his or her own risk and peril.”
