Leicester fans clashed with police ahead of their Champions League match in Madrid.

Thousands of Foxes fans have travelled to the Spanish capital for their quarter-final first-leg game against Atletico Madrid.

Pictures and video posted online suggested a group of fans were 'charged' by riot police in Plaza Mayor in the city centre.

According to Spanish newspaper La Voz de Galicia, police used "riot control measures" against 300 fans.
Eight were arrested.

Two police officers and two fans also suffered minor injuries, it was reported.

Fans of English clubs have encountered numerous problems
with Spanish police and fans in recent years.

Fighting broke out between around 50 Liverpool and Sevilla fans before kick-off at last year's Europa League final in Basel, Switzerland.

Manchester City fans had to barricade themselves inside an Irish bar in Seville after being ambushed by a group of Spanish supporters on the eve of their Champions League
clash in 2015.

And Tottenham accused Spanish police of hitting a disabled fan during their Uefa Cup tie in Seville, in 2007, when riot police charged away fans during the first half as trouble
broke out inside the ground.
