Gareth Bale received the first red card of his Real Madrid career after his misconduct. Cristiano Ronaldo scored a late
double to resuce a point for Zinedine Zidane's side in a breathtaking game at the Santiago Bernabeu.
After Barcelona had moved top earlier in the day with a 6-1 win over Sporting Gijon, Real made the perfect start when Isco gave them an eighth-minute lead, but Tana Dominguez equalised two minutes later with a thunderous shot.
Bale then had a moment of madness as he clashed with Johnathan Viera after the Las Palmas player, with referee initially booking the Welshman
for a foul before showing him a red card for the subsequent push as tensions boiled over.
Las Palmas took full advantage of the extra man as Real Madrid, in their efforts to take the lead with 10 men, conceded a penalty through Ramos with Viera coolly slotting the ball down the middle, before Kevin-Prince Boateng rounded Keylor Navas for a third.
But Real dug deep and it was that man Ronaldo who rescued his side once more, first converting from the spot following a handball before rising at the near post to level as the game entered stoppage time.
