Kanye West Deletes Instagram After His Valentine's Day Tribute to Kim Kardashian

After Kanye West returned to Instagram to send a Valentine's Day message, the rapper deleted his account.

On Feb. 14, the Grammy-winning artist reactivated his Instagram account and posted a series of photos. The first picture was a card—mostly likely given to him by his wife Kim Kardashian or meant for her—that read, "Happy Valentine's Day Babe."

Sticking with the Valentine's Day theme, Kanye then shared more than 30 pictures of celebrity couples.

However, most of the photos showed couples who are no longer together, including Madonna and Sean Penn, Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere and Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Pitt.

Nigerian Resident In South Africa Suffers Knife Attack

The Nigerian Community in South Africa said on Friday that a member was stabbed during xenophobic attack in Rustenberg, North-West Province area.

The President of Nigerian Union, South Africa, Mr. Adetola Olubajo, told the News Agency of Nigeria on telephone that the victim, identified as Desmond, was attacked on February 14.

“Desmond is a Nigerian hairpiece hawker in Rustenberg, North West Province of South Africa.

“He was attacked on February 14 and sustained multiple injuries. He was rescued when he was about to be set ablaze after being doused with petrol,’’ Olubajo said.

He said the Nigerian community in Rustenburg was currently living in fear as tension has heightened in the area.

Olubajo said the union’s executive had visited the city on a fact finding tour and had already spoken to Nigerians in the area.

“Nigerians and their families told us that the situation was very dangerous and that their lives were not safe.

“They also alleged that some group of people were abducting Nigerians and requesting money to have them bailed.

“A Nigerian who couldn’t pay was murdered last month. This same group also looted businesses of foreign nationals, Nigerians in particular,’’ the president said.

Olubajo said the union could not continue to keep quiet on the “criminal and xenophobic act” meted to Nigerians in South Africa.

He said there was need for the mission and government to intervene in the matter to avoid further loss of lives and properties of Nigerians.

“There is need for the Nigerian government to engage with its counterpart in South Africa. It’s not correct that those who were attacked and killed were criminals.

“Such statements are misinformation and misleading,’’ he said.

South Africa's Jacob Zuma Faces 18 Criminal Charges

South Africa’s Jacob Zuma, president until Wednesday when he resigned on live TV, faces an uncertain future as his legal challenges mount and his support network crumbles.

Analysts sketch several scenarios for Zuma, an anti-apartheid activist who rose to the presidency only to become thickly tarred by a reputation for graft.

These include prosecution over a series of corruption charges and then securing a presidential clemency from his successor Cyril Ramaphosa.

He may also quietly disappear into retirement in his home province of Kwa-Zulu Natal — or even skip the country, according to these narratives.

Zuma faces 18 criminal charges over 783 payments he received linked to a multi-billion rand 1990s arms deal, and the clamour for him to face justice has been growing in recent months.

The charges were set aside just weeks before he became president in 2009.

It will now be down to the National Director of Prosecutions to decide whether to reinstate them.

Zuma may also face charges over state corruption arising from his links to a controversial Indian business family, the Guptas.

“We are looking at a very awkward, troublesome and uncertain period for Zuma as he defends himself on all these fronts,” commentor Daniel Silke said.

If convicted, Zuma could face decades in jail. Zuma previously spent 10 years in jail on the notorious Robben Island between 1963 and 1973 after being convicted by the apartheid regime of conspiring to overthrow the government.

If Zuma is prosecuted and convicted, the next question is whether Ramaphosa would intervene to pardon the erstwhile president.

On one hand, Zuma was a celebrated anti-apartheid struggle figure who was close to Nelson Mandela and still has huge support — especially in the ANC’s rural heartlands.

On the other, a pardon could taint Ramaphosa’s clean-hands image and give the opposition a stick with which to beat the ANC. General elections are due in 2019.

“Nobody is above the law, even if you are the president. There is no immunity,” said constitutional law expert Pierre de Vos.

But as sitting president, Ramaphosa “can pardon anyone who has been convicted of a crime,” he said.

In that case it is most likely that he would retreat to his rural Nkandla farmstead in rural Kwa-Zulu Natal in the country’s east.

Appeals Court Declares Trump Travel Ban Unconstitutional

President Donald Trump’s latest travel ban on travelers from six largely Muslim countries is unconstitutional because it discriminates against Muslims because of their religion, a federal appeals court ruled Thursday.

In a 9-4 vote, the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond said it examined statements made by Trump and other administration officials, as well as the ban itself, and concluded that it is “unconstitutionally tainted with animus toward Islam.”

The court upheld a ruling by a federal judge in Maryland who issued an injunction barring enforcement of the ban against people from Chad, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen who have bona fide relationships with people in the U.S.

The U.S. Supreme Court has already agreed to hear the travel ban case in April. In December, the high court said the ban could be fully enforced while appeals made their way through the courts.

In its ruling, the 4th Circuit used soaring language to criticize the ban, saying it has a “much broader deleterious effect” than banning certain foreign nationals. The court said the ban “denies the possibility of a complete, intact family to tens of thousands of Americans.”

“On a fundamental level, the Proclamation second-guesses our nation’s dedication to religious freedom and tolerance,” Chief Justice Roger Gregory wrote for the court in the majority opinion.

Trump has said the ban is a legitimate measure to protect national security.

The ruling was the second time the 4th Circuit has rejected a travel ban. In May, the court cited Trump’s remarks on Muslim travelers while rejecting an earlier version of the ban, finding it “drips with religious intolerance, animus and discrimination.”

Lagos-ibadan Rail Will Begin Operations In January 2019 – FG

The Federal Government on Wednesday announced that despite the challenges facing the construction of the Lagos -Ibadan rail project, the facility would be put to use by January 2019.

The government said it had adopted carefully considered measures to holistically tackle the challenges of obstruction caused by water, gas and sewage pipes, adding that Nigerians would start enjoying the rail line from the first month of next year.

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi , gave the assurance after the monthly meeting of the Lagos - Ibadan Rail line Project Steering Committee at the Ibadan Railway Yard , Ibadan , Oyo State.

Amaechi was quoted in a statement issued in Abuja by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Transportation, Yetunde Sonaike, as saying , “ We hope this project will be completed within the life span of construction . Nigerians are putting us under immense pressure.

“ This contract is for three years and we are doing it within one year and two months . Our target is December 2018 , but at most in January 2019 , Nigerians will start to enjoy the dividends of democracy.”

He stated that based on the present challenges being experienced on the project , a committee was set up chaired by the Board Chairman of the NRC, Usman Abubakar , with representatives from the Nigerian Army , NRC , Lagos State Government , the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and CCECC as members.

Amaechi added that the committee would ensure that all the challenges were resolved , noting that the stakeholders knew that December 2018 was the deadline for the completion of the project.

The minister also stated that the government was working out a proposal to acquire an alternative land to build a railway station in Abeokuta instead of paying N 2 . 8 bn as compensation for the proposed location.

‘My Madam Inserted Stick In My V*gina’- 12-Year Old Girl Speaks Out

A 12-year-old girl, Faith Nwanja, has told officials of the Ebonyi State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development how she was subjected to inhuman treatment by her mistress, Mrs. Mrs. Nkechi Bartholomew.

The girl, who hails from Okoffia community in Ezza South Local Government Area, was tortured, mutilated and abandoned by Bartholomew for being too stubborn.

Bartholomew, a childless woman and seamstress adopted Nwanja and took her to Onitsha, Anambra State, when she was eight years old.

But Bartholomew allegedly disfigured the girl.

Nwanja has shocking scars and injuries all over her body, including eyes. She also has bloodied mouth and has lost one of her hands to torture.

Narrating her ordeal, the girl said her madam always tortures her with sticks, hot iron and other dangerous weapons for being stubborn.

She also alleged that Bartholomew, who hails from the same area with her, always inserts stick into her private part.

It was learnt that Bartholomew tortured Nwanja and locked her up in a dark room. She was rescued by Bartholomew’s sister and taken back to Ebonyi State.

Nwanja equally accused Bartholomew of chaining her and that she only eats once in a day which, according to her, is usually in the evening.

She said: “My madam, Bartholomew, disfigured me like this. I was a full-fledged human being when she took me to Onitsha, Anambra State. She inserted her fingers in my eyes and inflicted these injuries on me.

“In this my mouth, she usually uses stones and puts inside it. She said I don’t normally brush my teeth and since I cannot do it, I must always suffer for it.

“The husband has never beaten me; he always gets annoyed seeing me being tortured by his wife. At times, he will summon courage and quarrel with his wife because the wife is bigger than the man.

“My madam used to lock me inside a dark room after beating me up. I was taken home by my madam’s sister who told her to take me home but she refused. My madam used to tell me that nothing will happen if I die, that she will spend her money and regain freedom if she is arrested if anything happens to me.

“I was attending school in the village before she took me to Onitsha. But since four years that I went to Onitsha, I have not gone to school. I only eat in the evening every day.

“My madam used to insert stick into my private part, she says I am stubborn. After beating me up, she will bring to gallons and placed my two legs. She will tie my legs on them and insert stick into my private part.”

Head of Department, Child Development Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Godwin Igwe, described Nwanja’s torture as inhuman and degrading.

Igwe said it was contrary to the constitution of the Nigeria 1999 as amended in 2011.
He said: “No human being or child for any reason should be subjected to inhuman treatment. But this child was subjected to inhuman treatment.

“This is a pure case of attempted murder, this is a pure case of attempted annihilation, snuffing of life and debilitating. Right now, she cannot use one of her hands, she is a disabled person. The head has been mutilated, she has been disfigured.”

Meanwhile, the suspect is at large while her sister who brought the victim home has been arrested by the state police command.

''It All Began With Cigarettes"- Kenyan Drug Addict Rescued From Streets By His Childhood Friend Recalls His Downward Spiral

Patrick Hinga Wanjiru was introduced to Kenyans and other African countries for the first time as a destitute man in the streets of Wangige Town surviving on morsels of decayed food and coins tossed from a distance by well-wishers.

This was until Ms Wanja Mwaura, a former classmate, who recognised him took him out of the streets and got him help at a local rehabilitation centre. Read previous report here

The “before” and “after” pictures of Hinga — who by then had undergone two weeks of detoxification from drugs—went viral on social media, capturing the attention of both local and international media.

The kindness of Wanja warmed the hearts of many Kenyans, particularly when Kenya was holding its repeat presidential elections in October. Kenyans were moved by the story of Hinga’s transformation and rallied to raise money to support him in his journey to recovery.
Today, he is a changed man.

The Nation Kenya spoke to SHinga at “The Retreat” rehab where he has spent the last three months undergoing counselling and rehabilitation.

Clean shaven, dressed in stylish maroon khaki pants, a matching shirt and trendy sneakers, Hinga who stands almost at six feet is ready to speak to the media for the first time since he was rescued from the streets.

Although his speech has been slurred by drugs and medication, Hinga speaks eloquently, shifting between English, Swahili and Kikuyu.

Born on September 15, 1983, he attended Ndararua Primary School in Kabete and sat his KCPE exams in 1998 where he scored 447 marks out of 700. He was admitted to Uthiru High School, then a provincial school, in 1999.

Hinga’s dalliance with drugs started when he was in standard eight after friends introduced him to the lifestyle.

“It all began with cigarettes,” he says. “Before we knew it, we were smoking Bhang. I gave in to drugs because of peer pressure.”

Hinga and his friends would sneak to the toilets to smoke cigarettes and bhang. When his teachers discovered that Hinga was doing drugs, he was immediately expelled. He was in form two.

This, was the beginning of a downward spiral towards the path of ruin that would see him hit the streets. After being expelled from Uthiru, he was enrolled at Elite High School in Kayole where he dropped out due to drug use.

When it was clear that Hinga could not contain his drug habit, his mother took him to Mathari Mental Hospital where he ran away several times.
So far, he has been admitted to Mathari eight times.

Hinga says he would run away and not return home for fear of being re-admitted to Mathari.
Street life was perhaps the darkest moment of Hinga’s life.

During the day, he would roam the streets of Wangige before retiring to his corner, outside a small hotel, where people would sometimes pity him and buy him a plate of fried pork.

“What pained me the most was that my siblings were at home with my mother, safe and sound, yet I was in the streets and that was really depressing for me,” he says.

It was outside that small hotel that Wanja met Hinga and recognised him.
She began talking to Hinga who expressed his wish to leave the streets and rebuild his life.
When he checked into rehab three months ago, the fee was waived and the money raised went towards opening a business for Hinga, “Hinga’s Store.”

The store is run by his mother, who, for a long time, was desperate about what to do with her son whom she thought she had lost to drugs.

The privilege and honour of having a second shot at life is not lost on the aspiring mechanic, who is determined to get better and rebuild his life.

“I feel like I am a new man. I pray daily," he said.

I Met My Husband On A Bus After Falling Asleep On His Shoulder - Lady Says (Photo)

A lady identified as Cynthia has revealed how she met her husband 5 years ago in a bus while traveling to Abuja.

According to her, meeting her husband is one of the best things that happened to her after so many failed relationships and he loves her with everything in him. They have a son together now.

She narrated her story to Humans of Abuja. Read what she said below;
My name is Cynthia and I met my husband on a bus while coming to Abuja 5 years ago. It was my first time in Abuja and I intended staying with my cousin in Abuja before I could start working and earning money. My cousin lived in Wuse which was my destination while my husband who is a business man lived at Kubwa.

While in the bus, we started a healthy conversation we talked about so many things and laughed as if we had known each other for a long time. At a point in our discussion I fell asleep and rested my head on his shoulder unknowingly, when I woke up and realized myself, I looked at him and he smiled and he said I could sleep more.

On getting to my final bus stop in Abuja, I called my cousin but her number was switched off I was angry. I tried so many times but I couldnt get her on call and I cried because it was my first time in Abuja and I didn't know any place in Abuja.

My husband consoled me and told me that I could stay in his apartment for that night till I could reach my sister on the phone. I was so scared at first I refused his offer but i realized that I didn't have any other option than to follow him because I didn't have enough money to pay for a hotel that night. I went home with him on getting to his house he showed me a room which I slept in peacefully. I woke up in the morning and tried my sisters number again, it was available and he spoke with my cousin.

My husband directed her to his house, and she came to pick me that morning, we exchanged numbers and we talked for months and started dating. He got a job for me and in less than two years of our relationship we got married and I have a son now.

He is one of the best things that happened to me after so many failed relationships and he loves me with everything in him. I bless the day I met him in that bus.

South African President, Jacob Zuma Resigns From Office

South African President Jacob Zuma, in a televised address to the nation, said he will resign from his position effective immediately.

"I have come to the decision to resign as the president of the republic with immediate effect," Zuma said Wednesday.

The scandal-tainted leader said he has resigned despite his disagreement with the instruction of the ruling African National Congress party to leave office immediately. The ANC had been prepared to pursue a vote of no confidence in parliament on Thursday.
"I must accept that if my party and my compatriots wish that I be removed from office they must exercise that right and do so in the manner prescribed by the constitution. I fear no motion of no confidence or impeachment,” Zuma said in his address.

South Africa's ruling party welcomed Zuma's resignation after months of growing public anger over multiple corruption allegations.

The African National Congress expressed gratitude for Zuma's "loyal service" and encouraged party members to support Cyril Ramaphosa, who is now the country's acting president.

Ramaphosa is expected to be elected swiftly in a parliament vote and sworn in.

Zuma, 75, had been in office since 2009 and his tenure was marred by years of corruption scandals.

Just Wednesday, South African police raided the residential compound of a business family suspected of using its ties to Zuma to influence Cabinet appointments and land state contracts.

Agents from the Hawks, an elite police investigative unit, on Wednesday entered the compound of the Gupta family in Saxonwold, an affluent neighborhood in Johannesburg.
