Brazilian legend Ronaldo believes his namesake, C.Ronaldo will scoop the Balon d'or ahead of Lionel Messi

It is a debate that has divided football fans all over the world. Who is the better player between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi? The pair have established a monopoly on the balon d'or splitting the last nine awards between themselves and the trend doesn't look like it's going away anytime soon.
As always, the eternal rivals will go head to head for football's highest individual award thanks to stellar seasons with their respective clubs.

Messi bagged 54 goals in all competitions but could only help Barcelona to just the Copa Del Rey.

Ronaldo notched up a relatively modest 40 goals in all competitions but they have come when Real Madrid needed them most and thanks to him, they're league champions and will play in the champions league final come June 3.

Brazilian soccer legend, Ronaldo De Lima has voiced his admiration for both players but believes Ronaldo is in pole position to claim his fifth balon d'or and pull level with Messi. He said: “This year, I would choose Cristiano Ronaldo as the winner of the Ballon D’or.
“For the last two years, he has been decisive. He was key in so many matches in the Champions League, he’s in the final. Cristiano’s numbers can’t be ignored.”
“Both of them are fantastic. “I love Messi with the ball at his feet, he scores goals and does all the rest too. But Cristiano’s numbers can’t be ignored. “It’s a cruel comparison. Both of them deserve respect.”

Winger Riyad Mahrez has revealed that he has asked to leave Leicester City this summer.
Last summer, Mahrez was linked with a switch away from the King Power Stadium after helping the club to the Premier League title, but he eventually remained in the East Midlands and contributed to a run to the Champions League quarter-finals.
However, after continually being linked with a lucrative move elsewhere, Mahrez has announced that he intends to leave the Foxes ahead of the new season.

I've always enjoyed a good relationship with the Chairman and everyone at the club, and I hope I have been able to repay the faith shown to me by my performances and commitment on the pitch during my time here.

Islamist militants stone man to death for cheating on his two wives in Somalia (photo)

Al-Shabaab militants in Somalia buried a man neck-deep and stoned him to death allegedly for cheating on his two wives.

Dayow Mohamed Hassan, 44, was killed in the southern village of Ramo Adey in front of hundreds of onlookers.

Moalim Geedow, the regional governor representing the al Qaeda-linked insurgency, said Hassan was buried in a hole then pelted with stones.

He said: 'The man was married with two wives and children. He was publicly stoned to death today for committing adultery according to the Islamic sharia.

The man had a third woman who was a divorcee. He did not have her according to sharia.

He deceived her, saying that he went to a sheikh and that he married her. However, when the woman got pregnant, the two families debated and there was no trace of valid matrimony.

The court ruled he did not marry her legally and he was stoned to death." Since 2006, Al-Shabaab has been fighting a violent insurgency in Somalia to overthrow the government and impose its own strict interpretation of Islamic law.

In recent years the terrorist group has lost control of many towns and cities to a 22,000-strong force of African Union peacekeepers.

However, the group retains a presence in many villages and remains capable of launching deadly attacks.

This will not be the first time a man is being partially buried and then stoned to death for adultery by Islamist militants.

In 2009, in the same Somalia, Mohamed Abukar Ibrahim, a 48- year-old, was buried in a hole up to his chest and pelted with rocks until he died in Afgoye, some 20 miles south-west of the capital of Mogadishu.

Woman accused of poisoning North Korean leader's half brother, Kim Jong Nam asks her parents to pray for her

A suspect in the poisoning death of the North Korean leader's half brother wrote to her parents from jail, asking them to pray for her but saying "don't think about me too much."

Siti Aisyah, an Indonesian mother who worked in Malaysia, appeared in court Tuesday along with a second suspect, Doan Thi Huong of Vietnam.

Their trial was formally transferred to the High Court as the lower court had no jurisdiction to hear a murder case.

They are the only people who have been arrested in the assassination of Kim Jong Nam at the Kuala Lumpur airport on Feb. 13.

The suspects are accused of smearing VX nerve agent on Kim's face in the crowded airport terminal; he died soon afterward.

The women have said they were duped into thinking they were playing a harmless prank for a hidden- camera show.

Yusron Ambary, counsellor at the Indonesian Embassy, said Siti wrote a letter to her parents recently, asking them not to worry about her.

"I am in good health. Just pray. Don't think about me too much. Keep healthy and pray at night.

I have a lot of people helping me. The embassy officials always come to see me, my lawyers also. Don't worry. Pray for me so that the case will be over soon and I can go back home.

Send my love to my son Rio," he read from the letter to reporters outside the courtroom. Armed escorts accompanied the women, who smiled at their embassy representatives as they were brought to the dock.

Prosecutor Iskandar Ahmad said the date for their first appearance in the High Court would usually be within a month.

The suspects would then enter pleas and the trial would have to start within 90 days, Iskandar said. The court was also informed that lawyer Jagjit Singh was appointed by the North Korean Embassy to monitor the case for them.

Singh told reporters later that he was engaged to "protect the interest" of the North Korean government. He didn't elaborate.

Police have said four North Korean suspects fled Malaysia the day of the attack. Defense lawyers fear the women will be scapegoats because other people believed to have knowledge of the case left the country.

Siti's lawyer, Gooi Soon Seng, earlier complained to the court that prosecutors and police have failed to provide them the evidence including airport CCTV footages despite repeated request.

Iskandar assured the court that prosecutors will supply the material before the trial begins.

Gooi however, said failure to disclose material evidence to the defense at the earliest opportunity could undermine the defense case.

"At the end of the day, what we want is justice, not play hide-and-seek," he said.

Although Malaysia never directly accused North Korea of carrying out the attack, speculation is rampant that Pyongyang orchestrated a hit on a long- exiled member of its ruling elite.

Although Kim, who was estranged from his family, was not an obvious political threat, he may have been seen as a potential rival in the country's dynastic dictatorship.

North Korea has denounced such speculation and has never acknowledged the victim was a member of its ruling family.

Former Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega dead at 83

Former Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega, who spied for the CIA before his drug trafficking and brutal regime sparked a U.S. invasion in 1989, has died aged 83.

President Juan Carlos Varela announced Noriega's death on Twitter late on Monday, and said his passing marked the closing of a chapter in Panama's history.

Noriega, who ruled Panama from 1983 to 1989, spied for the Central Intelligence Agency until the United States invaded and toppled his corrupt government, ending a criminal career that saw him working with drug traffickers like Pablo Escobar.

Noriega was initially sentenced in the United States in 1992 but was serving a sentence for murder in Panama when he died.

The wily military ruler of the Central American nation made world headlines as his relationship with Washington soured, culminating in the United States sending nearly 28,000 troops to seize Panama City and capture him in a house-to-house hunt.

Noriega spent the rest of his life in custody between the United States, France and Panama for crimes ranging from murder to racketeering and drug-running.

The former dictator had undergone an operation in March to remove a brain tumor but suffered a hemorrhage and had been in a coma since a second surgical intervention.
A government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Noriega died at around 11 p.m. local time after his condition suddenly worsened.

With the knowledge of U.S. officials, Noriega formed "the hemisphere's first narcokleptocracy," a U.S. Senate subcommittee report said, calling him, "the best example in recent U.S. foreign policy of how a foreign leader is able to manipulate the United States to the detriment of our own interests."

After his capture, Noriega tried to turn the tables on the United States, saying it had worked hand in glove with him.

I won’t leave any project uncompleted - says Ogun state gov, Ibikunle Amosun

The Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, has promised the people of the state that his administration will complete all ongoing projects before the expiration of his tenure.

He gave this promise on Monday while fielding questions from journalists in Ijoko, Ado- Odo /Ota Local Government Area, during his inspection tour of some projects across the state.

Amosun had earlier announced the cancellation of a rally and opted for projects’ inspection to celebrate this year’s Democracy Day.

The governor also justified his administration’s concentration on the construction of bridges and flyovers across the state.

Amosun, who said his administration had embarked on the infrastructural development to prepare the state for the next 50 years, noted that the state had some peculiarities which differentiated it from other states.

The governor further said the construction of some critical roads in the state, particularly Sango - Ijoko - Alagbado- Oke Aro - Akute - Alagbole Road , would further open up the state for industrial development and successive governments would only need to maintain it.

He said, “I heard somebody saying why is he constructing all these bridges? They don’t know that we are looking beyond now. We are looking even to the next 50 years.“ By the time we finish this road , they will not do anything again, what will remain is just to maintain it . ”

Phyno, Pia Mia, Pulse, the controversial song and all the drama

There is drama in the Nigerian music scene and this time a lot of the players involved are really angry. So here's the gist. The song ‘I’m a fan’ is in the center of an international drama & while music fans are shrugging it off as a publicity stunt, music pundits believe it goes deeper that that.

In 2016 Phyno dropped his second album titled 'Paymaker' and it had a song called 'I'm a fan' featuring Mr Eazi and Decarlo. Then three days ago, American singer and songwriter, Pia Mia, released a version of the same song 'I'm a fan' which featured singer Jeremih.

Her version of the song had striking similarities with one released by Phyno including the production, chorus, and verse. Immediately after her own release, the internet went bunkers. Then Pulseng went on to do a report on the story that partly reads;
'According to verified sources close to Phyno’s camp, the rapper was working on incorporating Island-ready production on his sophomore album to tap into the international market. He was in talks with Remo (the producer), who sent him the song to work with. “The guy sent the song to us, and we wanted to work together, but something happened and we couldn’t use it,” a source told Pulse'.
The Pulseng report continues to say,
'due to issues regarding remuneration, clearances and demands, Phyno and Remo did not work together. But Phyno liked the idea of the sound, so he sought the help of producer Benjamz, who reconstructed the single, and brought on Mr Eazi and Decarlo to collaborate and release the record. Remo, who had totally abandoned the Phyno project, still has his music, and so when Pia Mia tapped him and Jeremih for a new record, they had this one ready-made for her to record and release'.
This report and alleged source from Phyno's camp didn't go down well with the rapper who immediately took has to twitter to call out Pulse and indirectly threaten legal actions.

MMM- Nigeria organises ‘Green Party’

MMM - Nigeria , a group for mutual financial aid and donations on Monday organised a green party show in the Federal Capital Territory to celebrate Nigeria ’s Democracy Day.

The party, which held at the Millennium Park, was opened to members of the group and non - members alike. Mr Seyi Bello , the President of Abuja Guiders Forum of the MMM - Nigeria said the gesture was part of solidarity by the group for Nigeria's 18- years of uninterrupted democracy.

“This party is put together to celebrate our Democracy Day and since Nigeria ’s flag is green - white- green , we decided to call it ‘green party’ as a mark of solidarity.

“ We invited everyone to be a part of this event because friendship and unity is what this community of mutual help represents.

As a community, we do not only provide help to our members, we also extend that to the larger society as part of our social responsibility ,” he said.

Musicians, comedians and other entertainers in the territory performed at the event . Bello explained that over three million Nigerians were members of the group.

“That is what defines us as a community of people providing financial help to each other on the principle of reciprocity and benevolence.

“ In MMM, there are no lenders and no debtors. One participant asks for help , another one helps. ’’ He , therefore, called on leaders at all levels to deliver basic dividends of democracy to Nigerians , adding that the current recession was affecting ordinary Nigerians .

“As we celebrate democracy ,l let our leaders remember that we need change in all aspects of our lives ,” he said. Mavrodi Mondial Movement is a Ponzi scheme, which was revived early this year after freezing participants’ accounts for a month in December 2016.
